Aerial Farm Photography in Minnesota

Want a picture of the whole farm, the way your family actually thinks about it? Central MN Drone photographs and films Minnesota farms and farmsteads, with up to 25 edited aerials on our Signature package. We are FAA Part 107 certified and insured, photos arrive in 24 to 48 hours, and packages start at $129.

Farm Drone Photography for Working Farms and Farm Families

A lot of farm families have an old aerial photo hanging in the kitchen or the shop. Someone flew over decades ago and took a picture, and it's still up there because it shows the place the way the family knows it. We make the current version in full resolution, with 4K video if you want it.

This page is about farms as working places and family places. If you are selling a parcel of bare ground, timber or hunting land, our land and acreage aerial photography page is the better fit.

  • Farmstead portraits: house, barns, bins and the yard together
  • Wider views of fields, pasture, tree lines and water
  • 4K video of planting, harvest or the place through the seasons
  • Prints and keepsake files at full resolution
  • Full commercial-use license if the farm is also a business

How much does aerial farm photography cost in Minnesota?
Aerial Essentials is $129 for up to 15 edited photos, and Signature is $279 for up to 25 edited photos plus a 4K video. Larger farms may need extra on-site time at $95 an hour. Travel is included within 30 miles of St. Cloud and is $1.25 a mile round trip, round trip, beyond that. You get the full price in writing before we fly.
Can you get the whole farm in one photo?
Usually, depending on how spread out the buildings and fields are. FAA rules cap most flights at 400 feet above the ground, so a very large operation may work better as a farmstead photo plus a few wider field views. We will tell you what is realistic.
Can I print the photos large for a gift or the shop wall?
Yes. Stills are shot at 48MP and delivered at full resolution, which leaves plenty of detail for a large print.
Will the drone bother my livestock?
It can if it flies low, so ask us to keep it high. We will ask where the animals are before takeoff, stay at a distance and keep the flight short. If your animals are sensitive, tell us and we will plan the shoot around them.
Do you do crop scouting or spraying?
No. We do not offer crop health mapping, NDVI, field analysis or spraying. We make photos and video of your farm for keepsakes, marketing, sales and records.
What is the best time of year for farm drone photos?
It depends on what you want to remember. Green summer crops, harvest and fall color, and fresh snow all look different. A seasonal re-shoot is available if you want more than one season. Ask us about pricing.

What People Use Farm Aerials For

Family keepsakes

An anniversary, a retirement, a century farm or the last year before the place changes hands. A framed aerial is a gift that gets looked at for a long time.

Farm sales and auctions

Show buyers the whole operation before sale day. We have flown an estate auction in Long Prairie, with rows of equipment and the site from above.

Direct-to-customer farms

Orchards, pumpkin patches, tree farms, wedding barns, farm stands and agritourism. Video like this gives your website and Facebook page something people want to watch.

Ag businesses

Seed, equipment, grain, trucking and other ag companies can show their yard, their facility and the customers they serve. Everything comes with a commercial-use license.

Building projects

Document a new barn, shop or bin site from dirt to done. See our construction progress photography for repeat visits, or ask about a before and after set.

Records for your files

A dated overhead of the farmstead, fences and outbuildings is handy to have. These are photos for your records, not surveys or crop data.

How a Farm Shoot Goes

Call or send the address and tell us what you are after: one great picture for the wall, a full photo set, or video too. Tell us the season you want and anything happening on the farm that day. We will send a written price, including any mileage.

On the day, we check in before takeoff and ask where the animals and machinery will be. Most farmsteads fit in the first hour included with the package. Spread-out places may need extra time at $95 an hour, and we'll tell you before we fly.

If you want the farm in the background of a real day's work, we can film planting or harvest. Tell us who is running the equipment, and we will keep a safe distance and stay out of the way.

Why a Contractor Runs This Drone

Central MN Drone is owned by Jacob Fischer, a construction business owner from Central Minnesota. He is used to working around equipment, crews and tight schedules, and understands that a nice day during harvest doesn't mean you have time to wait around.

The prices are on our pricing page. If wind or weather won't cooperate, we reschedule. Land listings and hunting ground have their own page: land and acreage aerials. For bigger video projects, see drone video services.
